The Island of Calaguas
Calaguas is a group of islands in the Philippine province of Camarines Norte. It includes the major islands of Tinaga Island and Guintinua Island, the minor Maculabo Island, as well as several other minor islands.
The recent popularity of the island has brought many tourists and travelers including us.
It is known for its pristine beaches—the most popular among these is the Mahabang Buhangin beach, which is made up of a long stretch of powdery white sand.
We rode a bus approximately 8-9 hours by land from Cubao Quezon City to reach
Daet camarines Norte and 2 1/2 hours sailing in the pacific ocean to Calaguas group of Islands. The long hours of voyage and hunger was faded when we finally had a glimpse of beautiful islands, The crystal sea, pristine turquoise waters, luscious green trees and virgin mountains.
Ready to sail the Pacific Ocean |
Mahabang buhangin (Calaguas Island)
As we landed in the island I solely fascinated with the place. It was markedly glamorous as you can swim on its clear water. It was pure powdery white sand under the mid blue sky.
We set-up our tents and were very excited to roam around and swim in the beach. Here are some of our pictures around the island.
The Summer Heat! |
Everyone
can feel the sweltering summer heat. The sun’s almost always
up, and the boiling weather seems to declare, “It’s time to hit the
beach!”
The place is literally a paradise!!
The dip on the aqua blue clear water was the highlight! I savored the water on high noon until 3pm. Never mind the sunburn I got afterwards despite of 150 spf sunscreen lotion.
We had out socials at midnight
It was relaxing to sleep by the sound of the waves of the Pacific Ocean. The night was so tranquil and peaceful . When I opened my eyes, it was 6:30am already ! I immediate get up to watch the sunrise. What a wonderful spectacle, something so perfect and beautiful.

The next day we climbed to see the mountaintop!
We set out to hike the hill to see the rest of Calaguas from a top a mountain. The view was beyond price.
What an amazing 3 days vacation leave at a spectacular island! It offers not just a temporary but welcome relief from the busy city. As our boat left the island, I carry with me the precious memories I had.
